The altitude and the spacious Ammer Valley turn Oberammergau
into paradise for cross-country skiiers. The creme-de-la-creme
of the cross-country skiiers were able to confirm
this on the first weekend in February at the large
"King-Ludwig-Cross-Country-Event".
However, it is not only the experts who can have lots
of fun when skiing cross-country here.
For those who are less advanced,
Oberammergau also offers a large network of cross-country
ski runs, that are available to you at no cost.
50 kilometres of tracked cross-country skiing runs
are at the disposal of the cross-country skiier:
King-Ludwig-Run: Oberammergau - Graswang - Linderhof
and back (approx. 26 km)
Sonnenloipe: WellenBerg - Unterammergau and back
(approx. 8 km)
Oberammergau - Unterammergau and back (approx.
6 km)
Roßweide: Oberammergau - Ettaler Mühle
and back (approx. 6 km)
Ettaler Runde: Ettaler Mühle - Ettaler Sattel
and back (approx. 4 km)
Alpine Skiing
Due to the ski lifts and lots of kilometres of well-prepared
pistes, the winter in Oberammergau is turned into
pure pleasure.
Skiing Area KOLBEN:
The Kolben is the ideal skiing area for the entire
family. While the more advanced skiiers can enjoy
the descent from the saddle of the Kolben (1280 m),
the beginners can stay on the lower slopes located
close to the parking area. In total, one chairlift
and 7 ski tows are at work here. The hut
at the Kolben saddle, the Kolbenalm at the Kolben
slope as well as the pizzeria and the cafeteria Blick
offer the hungry skiiers enough possibilities of refuelling
their strength.
Skiing Area LABER:
The descent at the Laber is only suitable for advanced
skiiers (it is not prepared), it is albeit particularly
enjoyable to these few. A cabin
lift brings you to the peak of the Laber, where
not only an adventurous descent but also a comfortable
peak restaurant awaits you.
And the best part is: should you own a day or
halfday pass, you are granted free admission into
the swimming pool WellenBerg (up to 2 hours !). So
you can combine sports, fun and recreation on one
spot!
