Introduction
Oberammergau has a wide variety of shops to suit the needs
of holiday guests. Focusing mostly on the regional specialities
such as woodcarvings and the "Trachten" (traditional
clothes), there are also numerous gift and souvenir shops
ready to fulfil any wish. As far as the shops have their

section.
Opening Hours
- Monday to Friday: from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., some
to 8 p.m. (Banks open mostly to only 4:30 p.m.)
- Saturdays: from around 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., some
shops are open in the afternoon; banks are closed
- Sundays: one bakery is open from 8 a.m. to 11
a.m., some souvenir shops are open.
Please note: during the Passion Play (from May 21st to
October 8th),
opening hours change (sometimes opening late until 10 p.m.).
Books and Magazines
In these shops you can find the latest news as well as reading
matter for leisurely holiday hours. And the active holiday
guest will certainly find a great variety of maps for hiking
tours and bicycle tours, mountain climbing or excursions.
Photography and Film
Those who like to capture their holiday impressions in pictures
will be glad to know that Oberammergau has two photographic
specialist shops, ready to provide them with everything
they need for their hobby: may it be films, developing services,
lenses, cameras or accessories
Gifts and Souvenirs
Finding small presents and gifts of any kind is no problem
in Oberammergau. In the following shops you will find everything
you would want to buy as a present or take home with you

Oberammergau has 3 special shops selling sports items for
the various summer and winter sports one can enjoy in the
area. Some of the shops also rent equipment (e.g. bicycles,
skis, snow-boards etc.) for your sporting needs.

Many retailers can be found in town. This is where you can
buy anything you need on a daily basis, from groceries to
sanitary goods.

Shopping for traditional costumes (and modern clothes) is
naturally an exciting pastime in Oberammergau. The 6 specialist
