Oberammergau - a village full of arts and handicraft
Being the village of woodcarvers made Oberammergau worldfamous
- already before the Passion Play. And even today the village
is home of approximately 100 woodcarvers. They do not only
religious subjects but a lot more from toys to humoristic
portraits. If you are keen on getting to know more about
the handicraft of today step into the Pilatus
House- there craftsmen explain their work and technique
and give you a bright look into the world of arts (open
Tue - Sun 1 - 6 p.m.)
Adventure water slide
Enjoy the blue or yellow giant worm ...... and slide down
until the pleasure ends in the water with a "yippie"!
Up and down, again and again. Little kids can spend their
time in the wading pool a little more gently.
Apropos children: outside the water you can find everything
that makes the day a real adventure as well. A big playground,
the crazy climbing frame and meadow, meadow, meadow for

Oberammergau Museum
The main emphasis of the Oberammergau Museum is on woodcarving.
Carving has been carried on in Oberammergau for over 500
years, and so the collection displays a wide range of examples
of art and handicrafts from gothic to modern times. At the
same time the visitor is informed about the local social
and artistic history of the 18th and 19th centuries. The
Crib Collection includes magnificent Oberammergau cribs,
such as the famous historical church crib on which generations
of local carvers worked and which King Ludwig II once admired.
