Oberammergau offers many pleasures for the eyes of the visitor. Marvellous woodcarvings, impressive buildings, fascinating traditions and a neighborhood offering some of Bavaria´s most famous castles and churches. Come and have a short stroll through the richness of this little village.

It´s now more than 200 years ago that people who could afford have their houses painted by artists - the result of this fashion can be seen today when you have a stroll through Oberammergau's "Dorfstrasse": colourful pictures on pretty facades, something what we call in Bavaria "Lueftlmalerei". But fortunately this fashion continued even in the 20th century, when the "Haensel und Gretel Haus" in Ettaler Strasse (see picture) was built.
